Midsummer, Lita – this is another last touch, that same unforgettable night, after which both life and love will still last, but these moments will no longer be possible to return.
Because of this, her fun is different, not daring, but already with bitterness, already with the desire to prolong the charm of bright summer days. The sun has ascended its throne, and the whole world is celebrating the triumph of light and the expulsion of darkness.
And this holiday lasts exactly one day and one night, and then the Sun God will begin to lose his strength. With every extra night minute, darkness will return to the World.
🌿 Lita – the time of berries, traditional patterns and decor of altars – whips and branches at the same time as flowers and berries.
Berry pies, baskets of strawberries and raspberries – these are offerings to the gods and treats for the celebrants.
🌿 Lita is the day and night of the triumph of God and Goddess. The light of this glory is with us all year, on the night of Yule it is he who beckons us through the blackness of the night, warming us with the hope of the return of God.
Now, on Lita, this light blazes unbearably brightly, so that we can hardly look at it.
🌿The light of Lita burns the hearts, these streams are not as colorful as the streams of Beltane, but their flame is faster, it is not scarlet, but white gold, the hottest.
This light is shed on the already juicy mature greens of the forests, and each leaf and each blade of grass hue seems to be the quintessence of color and juice. This is the time of daisies and bluebells. The herbs on Lita are in full force.
🌿 And like berries are Lita’s offerings, so herbs are her decoration. Lita’s altars are bundles of grass and wild flowers tied with ribbons of blue, yellow, white shades.
Lita’s flowers can also be garden flowers: peonies, late jasmine, if you manage to catch flowering – then wild rose hips. But in general, Lita is white flowers.
🌿Holiday candles are white like clouds, bright yellow like sunlight, golden like the glare of the sun on lake water, thick green like a forest thicket, blue like a summer sky, like waves of forget-me-nots in meadows.
Candles can be almost all colors of the rainbow – in a summer day there is a place for any shade. Each Lita has its own, its own celebration of the highest noon of the year.
But one thing is clear – Lita’s Candles are always candles of joy, this is always the same flame that we light on the longest day in order to carry it in our palms and souls for a long time to come.
That’s why Lita’s candles are not burned to the ground. They are left as talismans for goodness, light and well-being in homes. These candles will light the Yule hearth, these candles will light the fires of welcome for the Goddess in Imbolc.
These candles can drive dashing thoughts, fears away from home. These candles are magical, because no matter whose hands the flame is lit, this is the flame of the Sun God himself.

🌿The bonfires are stacked high, jumping over these flames should not be too easy. But if you have enough courage and dexterity, this is reliable witchcraft from ailments, from the evil eye.
Whoever jumps over the fire will not remember illnesses all year. In France, they jump over a fire with hazel branches in their hands. Then these branches are attached above the entrance to the house, to the stable and to the yard – for the strength and good luck of the owners and all households.
🌿 If you twist a wreath, and weave St. John’s wort into it, and then look at the fire through this wreath, then you will not know headaches all year, and your eyes will be fine. St. John’s wort on the days of the Solstice at the peak of its magical properties.
On the day of Lita, the harvested St. John’s wort is dried, and then the whole year is the best remedy for blues and depression, takes away sadness. It is added to infusions and broths, rinsed with chamomile, so that braids shine with a solar crown.
🌿Cones and acorns collected in the forests during the days of the Sabbaths are talismans, they were worn around the neck, in pockets sewn into travel bags. It was believed that they protect the owner from bad people, robbers and thieves on the road, make them invulnerable.
🌿 Thyme and fennel were burned on the corners in the braziers. Houses and gardens, especially fruit trees, were fumigated with smoke – for better yields and good growth.
Bunches of protective herbs, which are placed behind the lintel above the doors, are twisted at this time: from St. John’s wort, intertwining and tying the grass with ribbons of sunny – gold and scarlet colors.
🌿 Fern seeds were collected in order to gain invisibility, master unknown riches and gain the ability to understand the language of animals and birds.
The human hand should not touch them, so they were collected by laying a clean white cloth under the plant so that the seeds fell on it. Then, amulets were sewn from that cloth and carried with them as a source and guarantee of magical power.
